Spider-Man: Brand New Day Dominates Second Weekend Box Office with $145M

Spider-Man: Brand New Day continued its record-breaking box office run, pulling in an updated $145 million domestically in its second weekend. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the Sony release earned the third-highest sophomore weekend in domestic box office history, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149.2M) and Avengers: Endgame. It also marks the first time a Sony title has crossed the $100 million mark in its second weekend, eclipsing the studio’s previous high set by 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ($84.5M).
Globally, the superhero sequel has reached $1.67 billion, becoming the second-fastest film to cross $1 billion in overseas collections. Domestically, the film reached a 10-day cumulative total of $655 million by the end of Sunday, surpassing Avengers: Endgame‘s 10-day record of $621.2 million. Premium Large Formats and IMAX drove 33% of the weekend’s earnings, with IMAX contributing $9.8 million across 300 screens.
The broader domestic box office recorded a $205 million total across all releases—the third-best weekend overall this year—driven primarily by Spider-Man and The Odyssey. However, counterprogramming options struggled to draw substantial crowds away from the tentpole titles.
Universal’s romantic comedy One Night Only, directed by Will Gluck, debuted to $5.7 million with a B+ CinemaScore, performing similarly to Gluck’s previous release Anyone But You ($6M opening). The audience leaned heavily female at 74%, but mixed online buzz regarding its premise hindered a larger breakout.
Meanwhile, Searchlight’s Super Troopers 3 opened to $4 million, falling short of the $15.1 million debut set by its 2018 predecessor, while earning a B- CinemaScore and a 47% Rotten Tomatoes rating. Eli Roth’s genre offering Ice Cream Man also saw a quiet arrival, opening with an estimated $2 million.
