CINTAA Rejects Claims of Executive Committee Dissolution, Asserts Union Remains Fully Functional
The Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) has officially rejected claims that its Executive Committee (EC) has been dissolved, calling such reports incorrect, misconceived, and lacking judicial validity. The actors’ trade union reaffirmed that its elected governing body remains fully operational and continues to function under its official constitution.
According to CINTAA, the organization’s constitution dictates that the Executive Committee can only be dissolved if more than 50 percent of its elected members resign. CINTAA stated that this threshold has not been met. The association also clarified that any vacant positions on the committee were filled in accordance with constitutional rules by inducting eligible members next in line based on previous election vote counts.
Legal Counsel Adv. Suvigya Vidyarthi stated that the claims regarding the committee’s dissolution are completely unfounded. He also addressed the reported involvement of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), alleging that FWICE attempted to exercise powers not recognized under CINTAA’s constitutional framework at the behest of disgruntled individuals. Vidyarthi emphasized that external entities cannot override the internal governance of an autonomous union and that CINTAA will take necessary steps to protect its autonomy.

In a separate public notice, CINTAA advised industry stakeholders that the organization remains fully functional, dismissing rumors as attempts by certain members to create confusion for personal motives. Founded in 1958, CINTAA emphasized that its 68-year history of safeguarding actors’ rights, resolving payment disputes, and managing workplace contracts continues uninterrupted despite internal disagreements.
