Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Aakhri Sawal’ to Make History with Indian Sign Language Release

The upcoming Sanjay Dutt starrer, Aakhri Sawal, is set to become a milestone in Indian cinema. Following the release of its teaser on Hanuman Ji Janmotsav, the film has captured public attention not just for its subject matter, but for its commitment to inclusivity.
When it hits theaters on May 8, 2026, it will officially be the first Hindi feature film to be released with Indian Sign Language (ISL) integration from day one. The decision marks a significant shift in how mainstream cinema caters to diverse audiences. With an estimated 4 to 5 crore individuals in India who are deaf or visually challenged, the producers are prioritizing accessibility as a core feature rather than an afterthought.

It comes with some inclusive experience by providing ISL from the opening day, the film ensures that millions of viewers who were previously sidelined can now enjoy the theatrical experience alongside everyone else. This move is expected to expand the film’s audience base significantly, setting a new standard for future Bollywood productions.
The film offers an inside look into the history of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), India’s largest voluntary organization. The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the story and dialogues are penned by Utkarsh Naithani. Talking about the film, it is presented by Nikhil Nanda and produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, with co-production credits including Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand.
By blending a “clutter-breaking” historical subject with pioneering accessibility, Aakhri Sawal aims to leave a lasting impact on the Indian film landscape when it premieres next month.
