CBFC Passes Awarapan 2 with U/A 16+ Certificate

The upcoming film Awarapan 2 is getting closer to its theatrical release. Excitement is high among fans due to the popularity of the original movie. The censor process for the film is now complete.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the movie with a U/A 16+ rating. The committee asked the makers to make a few specific changes. Disclaimers were added for scenes showing drug use and child trafficking. A warning ticker was also added during smoking scenes. In line with official rules, the title of the film is now displayed in Hindi.
The committee requested a few cuts regarding violence and strong language. Certain improper words were replaced in both the audio and the subtitles. A violent scene in the second half of the movie was reduced by half. Three scenes showing extreme violence were completely removed. A scene depicting drug snorting at the midpoint was also cut.
After these changes were completed, the CBFC granted the final certificate on August 5. The total runtime of Awarapan 2 is 140 minutes and 20 seconds. The film stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, and Shabana Azmi in key roles. It will hit theaters on August 14.
Interestingly, Awarapan 2 is the only major Hindi release this month that avoided an adults-only rating. It clashes at the box office with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947, which received an ‘A’ certificate. Other upcoming releases like Toxic and Mirzapur The Movie are also expected to get adult ratings. This unique certificate gives Awarapan 2 a wider audience reach during the holiday weekend.
