‘Daayra’ Marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Tenth ‘A’-Rated Film; Kunal Kemmu’s ‘Vibe’ Also Receives Adult Certificate

The trend of adult-certified Hindi cinema continues into late 2026. Following recent releases like Dhurandhar The Revenge, Mirzapur, Cocktail 2, and Batwara 1947, both major upcoming releases—Daayra and Vibe—have officially received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) rating from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The investigative thriller Daayra, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, received its ‘A’ rating on September 11. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film has a total runtime of 143 minutes and 16 seconds (2 hours, 23 minutes). Daayra becomes the tenth adult-certified film of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s career, joining a filmography that includes titles such as Ajnabee (2001), Chameli (2003), Omkara (2006), Udta Punjab (2016), and The Buckingham Murders (2024).
Concurrently, the comic caper Vibe was also granted an ‘A’ rating by the CBFC on the same day. Directed by and starring Kunal Kemmu, the film features an ensemble cast including Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Vanshika Dhir, Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua), and Yashpal Sharma. With a approved runtime of 145 minutes and 55 seconds (2 hours, 25 minutes), the project marks Preity G Zinta’s second release following her return to cinema in Batwara 1947.
While trade analysts note that Daayra’s adult rating aligns with its mature investigative themes, the ‘A’ certificate for Vibe comes as a surprise to many industry insiders. Given that Kemmu’s previous directorial venture, Madgaon Express (2024), received a U/A rating, early expectations leaned toward a broader family-friendly classification.
Both Daayra and Vibe are scheduled for a simultaneous theatrical release on September 18, 2026.
