Ajay Devgn Begins Shooting for Chauhaan in Kargil; Returns to Ladakh 23 Years After LOC: Kargil
Following the massive box office success of Drishyam 3 (Drishyam The Conclusion), superstar Ajay Devgn has officially commenced filming for his upcoming patriotic war drama, Chauhaan, in the scenic yet rugged terrain of Kargil, Ladakh.
According to industry sources, Devgn arrived in Kargil recently to film pivotal sequences. “The production team secured all necessary permissions well in advance, making elaborate arrangements to ensure a seamless schedule. The freezing weather in Kargil will lend a striking sense of authenticity to the narrative,” a local source revealed.
This production marks Devgn’s return to shooting in Ladakh after 23 years, having previously filmed key portions of J.P. Dutta’s multi-starrer war epic LOC: Kargil (2003) in the region. While Ladakh was part of the former state of Jammu & Kashmir during that shoot, it now stands as a distinct Union Territory, with Leh and Kargil serving as its dual capitals.
Directed by Neeraj Yadav, Chauhaan is produced jointly by Jyoti Deshpande, Aanand L. Rai, and Himanshu Sharma under the banners of Jio Studios and Colour Yellow Productions. The film represents the first-ever collaboration between Devgn and director-producer Aanand L. Rai, with Jio Studios presenting and producing the venture. The project was formally announced on June 25, 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of the late legendary action director Veeru Devgan, Ajay’s father. The dynamic announcement video featured the iconic track “Jumma Chumma De De” alongside the punchy closing dialogue, “Pathaanon se kehna, Chauhaan aa raha hai.”
Aiming to capitalize on the lucrative holiday window next year, the makers have slated Chauhaan for a nationwide theatrical premiere on October 1, 2027. With its high-stakes action backdrop and authentic high-altitude shooting locations, the war drama is positioned to be one of Bollywood’s most anticipated releases of 2027.
