‘Dug Dug’ Trailer: A Whimsical Satire on Faith and a “Wish-Granting” Motorbike

A missing bike, a mysterious death, and the birth of a bizarre new religion the trailer for Ritwik Pareek’s debut feature, Dug Dug, has officially arrived. Presented by a powerhouse collective of executive producers—Anurag Kashyap, Nikkhil Advani, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vasan Bala the film promises a trippy, satirical exploration of faith and logic.

Inspired by true events, the story begins with the death of a villager in a remote area. The tone of mystery is set early in the trailer when the motorcycle involved in the accident vanishes from a police station, only to reappear at the crash site.

From Mystery to “Miracle”

The film follows the village’s descent into a unique spiritual frenzy as residents begin to believe the deceased man’s bike possesses magical powers. The Ritual: Devotees claim the bike grants wishes, provided they offer it prayers and alcohol. The Transformation: As “miracles” are reported, the phenomenon rapidly evolves into a commercialized religious movement, questioning the thin line between genuine belief and mass hysteria.

A Visual Spectacle

The trailer highlights the film’s whimsical and fantastical aesthetic, brought to life by Director of Photography Aditya S. Kumar. The vibrant, “trippy” visuals complement Pareek’s script, creating a world that feels both grounded in reality and elevated by magical realism.

Global Acclaim and Release

Before its scheduled Indian theatrical release on May 8, 2026, Dug Dug traveled the international festival circuit to significant acclaim: Premiered at TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). Official Selection: Santa Barbara, Melbourne, Los Angeles (IFFLA), MAMI Mumbai, and the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

Produced by Bottle Rocket Pictures (Prerna and Ritwik Pareek) and released in association with Ranjan Singh’s Flip Films, the movie features a cast of Altaf Khan, Gaurav Soni, Yogendra Singh, and Durga Lal Saini. Dug Dug is poised to be one of the year’s most unique cinematic offerings, blending comedy and mystery to hold a mirror up to the complexities of human faith.
