Actor Vijay Varma has officially confirmed that his hit web series, Matka King, will return for a second season on Prime Video. The announcement ends widespread speculation triggered by a cryptic social media post he shared earlier.
On Tuesday, Vijay posted a picture expressing gratitude to spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, hinting at the start of a new journey. Fans were left guessing which upcoming project he was referring to. The actor cleared the suspense by sharing a selfie from the production office, posing directly in front of a Matka King poster with a caption reading, “At the office for…”
He followed up with a picture of the official script for the season’s opening episode. Titled Season 2 x Episode 1: Ek Aur Baazi, the episode is created and written by Abhay Koranne. Sharing the image while the show’s iconic theme song played in the background, Vijay wrote, “Ek aur baazi ;)” to tease his followers.
Vijay will reprise his lead role as Brij Bhatti, a character that anchored the debut season. The first installment followed Bhatti’s dramatic rise through the underground matka gambling network, set against the detailed backdrop of 1950s Bombay. For the role, Vijay underwent a noticeable physical transformation and adopted a distinct retro look to fit the era.
