Vijay Deverakonda, Not Ram Charan, to Play Lord Krishna in Telugu Remake of Gujarati Blockbuster Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate
Devotional film Hanuman Ansh is currently rocking the box office as a miraculous super-hit. Interestingly, last year witnessed a similar box office trajectory with the Gujarati film Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate. Despite a slow start during its first two weeks, the low-budget movie gradually picked up momentum through strong word-of-mouth to collect over ₹100 crore, becoming the highest-grossing Gujarati film of all time.
Following its massive success, reports surfaced that a Telugu remake was in development, with speculation pointing toward Ram Charan for the lead role. However, industry sources have clarified that Vijay Deverakonda has bagged the sought-after role of Lord Krishna instead. Reputed producer Dil Raju has acquired the Telugu remake rights for the project in a deal facilitated by Vipul D. Shah of Optimystix.
Directed by Ankit Sakhiya, the original Gujarati film stars Karan Joshi alongside Shruhad Goswami as Lord Krishna. The story follows a struggling auto-rickshaw driver who becomes trapped inside a secluded mansion during an attempted theft, only to receive unexpected guidance from a mysterious man who reveals himself as Lord Krishna.
Released during the pre-Diwali period on October 10, 2025, Laalo – Krishna Sada Sahaayate opened to minimal awareness, earning just ₹36 lakh in its first week and ₹28 lakh in its second. However, box office collections surged to ₹70 lakh in week three and skyrocketed to ₹14 crore by week four. Driven by its engaging narrative, music, and viral videos of audiences dancing to its end-credit song inside theaters, the film transformed into an unprecedented cinematic hit.
