Dunki vs. Salaar: Shah Rukh Khan Emerges Victorious Over Prabhas in OTT Viewership Battle on Netflix!

The clash between Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” and Prabhas’ “Salaar” at the box office last December has now transitioned to the OTT platform, sparking a comparison of viewership. While Salaar initially outperformed Dunki in terms of collection, the tables have turned on Netflix. Shah Rukh Khan’s film has emerged as the dominant force, captivating audiences since its arrival on February 15.

Official numbers reveal that Dunki garnered an impressive 4.9 million views within just 4 days (15-18 February) and was watched for a total of 13 million hours. During the period of 12-18 February, the film secured the 5th spot on the list of top 10 non-English films on Netflix.

In contrast, Salaar made its Netflix debut on January 20 in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, claiming the 3rd spot in the top 10 non-English films during its debut week (15-21 January) and accumulating 1.6 million views. The film was viewed for 4.8 million hours globally.

It’s evident that Shah Rukh Khan has asserted his dominance over Prabhas on Netflix, marking a significant turn in the battle that initially favored Salaar.

Battle at the Worldwide Box Office

“Dunki,” led by Shah Rukh Khan, hit the screens a day before “Salaar” on December 21. Despite a mixed reception, the film performed well, particularly benefiting from the holiday season and urban support in India. Notably, SRK’s stardom shone brightly overseas, where the film enjoyed better word-of-mouth, culminating in a total gross of 470.60 crores. Of this, the Indian box office contributed 273.76 crores gross, while the overseas market contributed 196.84 crores gross.

On the other hand, Prabhas’ “Salaar” also faced mixed reviews but found favor in mass centers, resulting in a strong showing at the Indian box office, with a total gross of 480.26 crores. The film earned 135 crores gross in the overseas market, leading to a global gross of 615.26 crores.

The battle between these two cinematic giants has been a captivating spectacle, with both films leaving a significant mark on the global box office landscape.
