After Krishnavataram, Hardik Gajjar Announces Tana Riri and Ajay Abhimanyu ki Mahabharat; Films Slated for 2027 and 2028 Releases

Filmmaker Hardik Gajjar has officially announced two new feature projects following his work on Krishnavataram. The director is set to explore regional Gujarati folklore with Tana Riri before mounting a grand adaptation of a pivotal epic chapter in Ajay Abhimanyu ki Mahabharat. The two films are scheduled for theatrical releases in October 2027 and June 2028, respectively.

For Tana Riri, Gajjar reunites with Krishnavataram actress Sanskruti Jayana to bring the legend of twin sisters Tana and Riri to the screen. Set in 16th-century Vadnagar, Gujarat, the historical drama explores the lives of the legendary sisters, celebrated in regional history for their exceptional musical mastery and cultural legacy.

The film’s first look poster highlights its period setting, depicting the twin sisters walking through the grand gates of a kingdom. The production aims to highlight their historic contribution to Indian classical music within a broad cinematic narrative.

Simultaneously, Gajjar is developing Ajay Abhimanyu ki Mahabharat, a cinematic retelling centered on Abhimanyu, the heroic young warrior from the Mahabharata. Celebrated for his exceptional valor and tragic sacrifice during the Kurukshetra War, Abhimanyu’s stand remains one of the most enduring episodes of the epic. The upcoming project will focus on his strategic role and personal journey within the larger conflict.
