Akanksha Chamola Confirms Divorce From Anupamaa Star Gaurav Khanna: “Separated for One Year”

In a shocking revelation on the premiere episode of Netflix India’s reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, actor Akanksha Chamola confirmed that she and her husband, Anupamaa star Gaurav Khanna, are officially getting a divorce.

Akanksha dropped the bombshell on stage before hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, revealing that the couple has secretly been living apart for the last 12 months.

A Mutual Decision with “No Bad Blood”

Despite the split, Akanksha emphasized that the separation is amicable and rooted in a mutual realization regarding their future compatibility.

“Gaurav and I are getting a divorce. We have been living separately for the last year. It was a mutual decision and has not been made public until now. Things are not bad between us; we still talk. We just don’t think we are compatible as partners because we see very different futures, and unfortunately, it’s not with each other.” — Akanksha Chamola

Trying to Save the 9-Year Marriage

Akanksha opened up about the timeline of their separation, noting that the trial split happened while Gaurav was a contestant on Bigg Boss.

Both families hoped that time apart would help the couple heal and revive their relationship. To the world, they continued to attend events together and support each other socially. Despite their best efforts, Akanksha admitted they simply “didn’t feel like a married couple anymore,” adding that the formal announcement would likely be big news for their families as well.

Gaurav Khanna’s Past Comments

While Gaurav has not yet officially commented on Akanksha’s reality show revelation, his stint on Bigg Boss 19 frequently highlighted his deep affection for his wife.

Addressing previous rumors regarding their relationship—specifically disagreements over starting a family Gaurav had earlier told SCREEN:

“I have been married to Akanksha for nine years now. All my close buddies and family know about us. If things were supposed to go haywire, they would have done so much earlier.”
