Border 2 has made a strong debut, with unanimous praise from critics and audiences alike. Anticipating huge weekend numbers and soaring demand, theatres are ramping up showtimes. Leading the charge, popular chain MovieMax has already scheduled post-midnight screenings of the war drama at key locations for Saturday, January 24.
In Mumbai, MovieMax Huma Kanjurmarg will screen Border 2 at 1:20 AM, while MovieMax Mira Road and MovieMax Sion offer 1:15 AM shows. Pune’s MovieMax Amanora is going all out with six shows between midnight and 8 AM—at 1:15 AM, 1:45 AM, 2:15 AM, 3:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 7:30 AM—totaling 30 daily screenings of the film. MovieMax Gold in Pune will host three post-midnight shows at 1:15 AM, 2:15 AM, and 3:15 AM.
Meanwhile, MovieMax Nagpur has slotted a 1:15 AM show as well. Other cinemas are following suit. Maxus, known for pioneering post-midnight screenings, will run shows at 12:45 AM and 7:00 AM at their Bhayander theatre near Mumbai. PVR Sangam in Andheri East, Mumbai, will showcase Border 2 at 1:55 AM.
As demand surges, more theatres are expected to join the trend. These late-night and early-morning shows will continue not just on January 24, but also on January 25 and 26—with January 26 being a national holiday for Republic Day. Starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, Border 2 is riding a wave of positive buzz and expanded showtimes, poised to dominate the box office through the weekend and Republic Day, potentially rewriting January box-office records across the country.
The Rise of Post-Midnight Shows
The trend of post-midnight screenings gained momentum after the pandemic. Sooryavanshi (2021) led the way, followed by hits like Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), Drishyam 2 (2022), Jawan (2023), Pathaan (2023), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), Oppenheimer (2023), Gadar 2 (2023), Animal (2023), Stree 2 (2024), F1: The Movie (2025), Sitaare Zameen Par (2025), and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (2025), among others. Before Border 2, Dhurandhar was the most recent film to achieve this milestone. Stay tuned to know more about it only with us.
