Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Alia Bhatt are reportedly planning to revive their shelved project, Inshallah, once their upcoming feature Love And War releases.
When Inshallah was originally announced in 2019, it created immense excitement as it was set to star Alia Bhatt alongside Salman Khan. However, the high-profile film was shelved right before filming began after Salman Khan reportedly opted out of the project. Following the delay, Bhansali directed Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia, which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. The director-actor duo is currently working together on Love And War, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
According to a recent report by Mid-day, Bhansali and Alia are considering bringing Inshallah back to life after wrapping up their present commitments. However, the project will not simply be a continuation of the version planned in 2019. While the basic storyline will remain the same, the script is being reworked to give the narrative a completely fresh approach.
Speculation previously hinted that Shah Rukh Khan might step into the male lead role originally intended for Salman Khan. However, sources close to the development state that no casting decisions have been locked. Bhansali strictly finalizes his cast only after the screenplay is fully completed.
The source noted that Salman Khan is currently occupied with a project by director duo Raj & DK, while Shah Rukh Khan has not chosen his next project after King. Additionally, the team is open to casting a younger lead actor depending on the final direction of the revised script. Therefore, whether the film eventually stars Salman, Shah Rukh, or a younger actor alongside Alia remains open-ended.
In the meantime, audiences can look forward to Bhansali’s Love And War. Featuring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, the eagerly awaited film is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 21, 2026. Stay tuned for more only with us.
