Industry Shockwave: FWICE Issues Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh Over Don 3 Walkout; Farhan Akhtar Demands ₹45 Crore Compensation

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) held a major press conference to address an escalating legal and professional conflict between filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and superstar Ranveer Singh. Led by Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit, President Birendra Nath Tiwari, and Hon. Gen. Secretary Ashok Dubey, the apex body announced a sweeping non-cooperation directive against the actor following his alleged abrupt withdrawal from the highly anticipated action franchise Don 3.
According to Ashoke Pandit, who also heads the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), the dispute reached a boiling point just weeks before the film’s scheduled production cycle:
The Walkout: Farhan Akhtar’s official complaint states that Ranveer Singh walked out of Don 3 a mere three weeks before the production unit was scheduled to fly out to the shooting location.
Farhan Akhtar joined an emergency IFTDA meeting via Zoom from London, while co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani attended in person to present audited financial losses caused by the sudden cancellation.
In accordance with standard industry protocol, the federation reached out to Ranveer Singh’s team. “Every 10 days, we reminded him three times to meet us and share his version as well. However, we didn’t get any response from him,” Pandit revealed.
The federation noted that they only received a formal email response from Singh’s legal representation after the press conference was publicly scheduled. The email reportedly claimed that FWICE held no legal jurisdiction over the contract matter.
Total Industry Boycott Imposed
FWICE officials strongly condemned the actor’s stance, emphasizing that sudden project cancellations damage the livelihoods of daily wage technicians, spotboys, and lower-tier crew members.
“We feel that the message should go to the industry ki koi superstar niyam se bada nahin hai (that no superstar is above the rules),” stated President Birendra Nath Tiwari. “Hence, we have put in place a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer from this very day.”
Hon. Gen. Secretary Ashok Dubey clarified the massive scope of the non-cooperation directive, confirming it will halt both film and commercial sets:
