The release of the upcoming romantic drama Laikey Laikaa, featuring Rasha Thadani and Abhay Verma in lead roles, has been officially postponed. Originally scheduled for a summer 2026 theatrical debut, the film is now set to arrive on the big screen in February 2027. The production team chose to delay the project’s launch in order to conceptualize, shoot, and incorporate a lavish special dance number centered entirely around Thadani.
According to an industry insider close to the production, this decision directly stems from the massive public response to Thadani’s dance moves in “Uyi Amma,” a hit song from her 2025 debut feature Azaad. The track quickly went viral following its release, establishing her strong reputation as a skilled dancer. Since her character in Laikey Laikaa happens to be a dancer as well, the filmmakers realized that adding a dedicated, high-energy dance sequence would naturally complement her character arc while elevating the overall commercial appeal of the project.
Because planning, choreographing, and filming the new track requires significant extra production time, pushing the premiere date to February 2027 proved to be a strategic move. The makers felt that rescheduling the launch to align with Valentine’s Day month offers an ideal theatrical window for a passion-filled love story.
Laikey Laikaa marks the very first time Thadani and Verma will share screen space together. Although the specific plot mechanics are currently being kept under wraps, the film is being presented as an emotionally intense, modern romantic drama.
Both lead actors have kept busy with other high-profile projects in the interim. Abhay Verma was recently seen headlining the OTT military drama series Operation Safed Sagar: The Untold Story of the Kargil War. Meanwhile, Rasha Thadani continues to expand her footprint across regional industries, having made her formal Telugu cinema debut with Srinivasa Mangapuram, which released in theaters earlier this year.
