‘Last Man in Tower’ Sets Theatrical Release for September 11, Starring Manoj Bajpayee, Divya Dutta, and Boman Irani

Aravind Adiga’s bestselling novel Last Man in Tower is coming to the big screen on September 11, 2026. Directed by Ben Rekhi, the film is adapted for cinema by acclaimed writer Sooni Taraporevala. The project marks the first Hindi feature production for Rana Daggubati’s banner, Spirit Media, and brings together an extraordinary ensemble cast.

The narrative centers on Masterji, a retired schoolteacher who stands his ground when a lucrative redevelopment offer tempts the residents of his Mumbai building. His refusal to sell creates mounting friction within the community he has known for decades. Among those clashing with Masterji is Mrs. Puri, whose own personal ambitions conflict with his rigid moral stance. The story delves into personal conviction, greed, and the fragile nature of human relationships when life-changing opportunities arise.

Manoj Bajpayee leads the narrative alongside Divya Dutta, while Boman Irani plays a pivotal role in the drama. Notably, the project marks the first on-screen collaboration between cinematic powerhouses Bajpayee and Irani. Sukant Goel also joins the principal cast, adding further depth to the neighborhood dynamic.

Director Ben Rekhi expressed his fulfillment in bringing Adiga’s novel to life, calling the story an urgent exploration of community and family during turbulent times. He highlighted the rewarding experience of capturing the dynamic performances of Bajpayee, Irani, and Dutta together on set.

Producer Rana Daggubati shared his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing that the film finds universal truth within a specific local setting. He noted that the story compellingly examines the choices people make and what they choose to hold onto when pushed to their limits.

Last Man in Tower promises to take audiences through an intense, deeply human story where individual principles collide with collective ambition. The film arrives in Indian theaters nationwide on September 11, 2026.
