As Dhurandhar continues to dominate the Indian box office, the competition for the Christmas 2025 release window is heating up between Kartik Aaryan’s romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash. In a surprising development, exhibitors have decided to reduce Avatar: Fire and Ash showtimes by approximately 30% on Christmas Day to accommodate the Kartik Aaryan film at their theaters.
A trade insider told Bollywood Hungama, “Jio Star Studios, the distributor of Avatar: Fire and Ash in India for Disney India, has allowed exhibitors to adjust the Christmas Day schedule due to strong pressure from stakeholders of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. The process of cutting shows for Avatar has already begun at independent chains, making way for a robust release for Kartik’s film.
”Exhibitors are optimistic about Tu Meri Main Tera because it’s a lighthearted family entertainer led by a popular young star, ideal for the festive Christmas and New Year holiday crowd. “There’s strong demand among youth for Tu Meri Main Tera, and it’s expected to open strongly despite stiff competition.
Audience interest is driving the programming changes, especially since Avatar: Fire and Ash has underperformed at the box office so far,” the source explained. On the other side, Jio Studios has not allowed any reduction in showtimes for Dhurandhar on Christmas Day, and exhibitors are maintaining original screening commitments for the film without changes.
