Netflix India has joined hands with the Indian Institute of Creative Technology (IICT) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) to boost skill development in India’s AVGC-XR sector, which encompasses Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed during the 25th edition of FICCI Frames, in the presence of Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.
This collaboration aims to leverage Netflix’s creative expertise, IICT’s industry-aligned curriculum, and FICCI’s extensive network to nurture and empower talent within India’s creative technology landscape. As part of the partnership, Netflix will work closely with IICT to enhance its curriculum and provide students with direct access to industry professionals through workshops, masterclasses, and guest lectures. These initiatives are designed to mentor students, enrich their learning environment, and equip them with the skills necessary to excel in the creative media sector.
Also, Netflix will deploy its Netflix Fund for Creative Equity to offer scholarships to deserving students selected in collaboration with IICT. This fund focuses on creating opportunities for underrepresented talent across the media and entertainment industry. Netflix will also participate in three of IICT’s national councils—the R&D Council, Academic Council, and Industry Development Council—bringing together experts from academia, industry, and policy to foster the growth of India’s AVGC-XR ecosystem.
Mahima Kaul, Director of Global Affairs at Netflix India, said, “This collaboration aligns with the government’s vision to strengthen India’s AVGC sector by nurturing world-class talent. Together with IICT and FICCI, we aim to equip aspiring creators with the tools and opportunities to innovate and lead in entertainment.
”Dr. Vishwas Deoskar, CEO of IICT, added, “Partnering with Netflix and FICCI bridges academia and industry, providing students vital mentorship and exposure to global best practices, preparing them to thrive in India’s dynamic AVGC-XR landscape.”Munjal Shroff, Chairman of FICCI AVGC-XR Forum, remarked, “This partnership marks a transformative moment for India’s creative technology sector. FICCI is proud to facilitate this collaboration, which will position India as a global hub for AVGC-XR innovation while nurturing future-ready talent for sustainable industry growth.”
