Arshad Warsi Returns for Jolly LLB 4; Shooting to Wrap by January 2027

The hit courtroom-comedy franchise is set to return with a fourth installment, with Arshad Warsi reprising his iconic role as lawyer Jagdish Tyagi, affectionately known as ‘Jolly’. According to a report by Variety India, the upcoming project is currently in the final stages of pre-production and is scheduled to wrap filming by January 2027.
While the makers have yet to finalize the official title, the fourth film will feature a major creative shift.
A Prequel Directed by Umesh Shukla
Unlike previous entries, Jolly LLB 4 will be directed by Umesh Shukla and will serve as a prequel rather than a direct sequel to the earlier chapters.
A trade source informed Variety India:
“The project is currently in the last leg of pre-production. And it’s not taking the film forward. It’s a prequel.”
By traveling back in time, the storyline is expected to explore the early career and foundational struggles of Jagdish Tyagi before he took on the high-profile hit-and-run case in the original 2013 movie.
Franchise Evolution and Cast Details
Arshad Warsi launched the franchise in 2013 with Subhash Kapoor’s critically acclaimed Jolly LLB, which won praise for blending sharp courtroom satire with middle-class social commentary. Akshay Kumar later stepped in to lead Jolly LLB 2 as Jagdishwar Mishra, before both actors joined forces for a massive courtroom showdown in Jolly LLB 3.
With the focus shifting back exclusively to Warsi’s character, details regarding the rest of the ensemble cast remain under wraps. It is currently unconfirmed whether franchise staple Saurabh Shukla who earned widespread acclaim as the eccentric Judge Sunder Lal Tripathi or original co-stars like Amrita Rao, Boman Irani, and Sanjay Mishra will return for the prequel.
Targeted for a theatrical release in 2027, Jolly LLB 4 promises to give fans a fresh look at the origin story of one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved reel lawyers.
