Set against the vibrant and rapidly evolving backdrop of 1960s Bombay, Matka King explores the fictional journey of Brij Bhatti, played by Vijay Varma. Bhatti is portrayed as an exceptionally sharp and enterprising cotton trader who seeks legitimacy and respect in a city defined by shifting power dynamics. He eventually creates a revolutionary gambling system known as “Matka,” which successfully turns an elite pastime into a nationwide phenomenon. The project is directed by the acclaimed Nagraj Popatrao Manjule and written by Abhay Koranne.
