Yash Raj Films Planning to Shoot Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan 2 in Chile

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan made a remarkable comeback with Pathaan (2023), which not only became his first film to gross over Rs. 500 crores but also set a new record as Bollywood’s highest grosser, surpassing the long-standing success of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017). Given this success, excitement surged when reports emerged that Yash Raj Films (YRF) is already working on Pathaan 2. Recent developments regarding the film’s shooting location have added to the buzz.
Gabriel Boric Font, the President of Chile, recently visited India and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi before heading to Mumbai. During his visit, he engaged with filmmakers to explore the potential for shooting films in Chile. Actor Anshuman Jha, in a conversation with Mid-Day, shared insights from his interactions.Jha revealed that he met with both President Boric and Carolina Arredondo, the Minister of Culture and Arts, to discuss cultural exchange opportunities through his production company, First Ray Films. He mentioned that discussions are underway to shoot Lakadbaggha 3 in Chile next year. Moreover, he disclosed that YRF is also considering Chile as a location for Pathaan 2.Mid-Day reported that the Chilean delegation had visited YRF Studios.
Anshuman Jha stated, “There are concrete conversations about Pathaan 2 by Yash Raj Films and Lakadbaggha 3 being shot in Chile next year. I hope we can help His Excellency’s vision of showcasing the beauty of Chile to the world through our cinema.”The first installment of Pathaan also featured Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, directed by Siddharth Anand. The film narrates the story of a spy battling a dangerous terrorist collaborating with Pakistan to undermine India. It is a part of the YRF Spy Universe, which included a memorable special appearance by Salman Khan, reprising his role as Tiger.
The scene in which SRK and Salman fight together became a historic highlight in cinemas. On another note, Lakadbaggha (2023), produced by Anshuman Jha, starred him alongside Ridhi Dogra and Paresh Pahuja. The film, which features an animal-loving vigilante, received immense acclaim globally. Encouraged by its success, Jha announced Lakadbaggha 2, which was filmed in Indonesia. Interestingly, both Lakadbaggha and Pathaan were released in January 2023, marking a significant month for Jha and the industry.
