Bio – Yami Gautam is an Indian actress who has worked in a number of languages movies including Tamil, Telugu, Malyalam, Hindi, Kannada and Punjabi. Before entering into films, she did a couple of TV shows including Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam and Chand Ke Paar Chalo. In the year 2010, she did her fist Kannada movie called Ullasa Utsaha starring Ganesh, while in 2013, she was seen in the movie called Vicky Donor that revolved around the sperm donation issue. Once the movie was released, it was a big commercial hit giving her a good recognition for her positive performance and reviews.
As far has her personal life is concerned, she was born in Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh but was raised in Chandigarh. Her father Mukesh Gautam works in Zee News as a news coordinator, while her elder sister Surilie Gautam is also into Punjabi movies who did the blockbuster movie Power Cut. After her schooling she took admission in her Law Honors from Punjab University but had to leave it in between for pursuing her acting career. Now, apart from her acting career, she is doing her party time graduation from Bombay University. She loves reading, listening to music and interior decoration.
As far as her career is concerned, she headed to Bombay when she was barely 20 years of age for pursue her acting career. She then got the chance to work in a couple of TV soaps in leading channels. Also, she participated in few realty shows like Kitchen Champion Season 1 and then Meethi Choori No. 1. She then got the chance to work with the south Indian movies wherein she debuted with Kannada movie called Ullasa Utsaha. Though the movie turned out a flop, however, her performance was deeply appreciated by the viewers and critics.
She entered the Bollywood movies with the film called Vicky Donor against Ayushmann Khurana wherein she played the character of a Bengali girl called Ashima Roy who falls in love with a boy of Punjabi origin. Despite a budget movie, Vicky Donor became a big hit and her work received a good appreciation from all the nook and corners of the industry. Her acting and performance was very much appreciated, which recognised her in the industry. Her next Bollywood movie includes Total Siyapaa which she played against Ali Zafar playing the character of a Punjabi girl. Her announced movies include Hamara Bajaj and Action Jackson. She was nominated in a number of awards but was able to bag the IFFA award for the best debut face in the industry.
