Shoojit Sircar produced Running Shaadi released today competing with other movies The Ghazi Attack and Irada. The movie which is made with a budget of 60 crore tells a simple story of a small town boy running a unique matrimonial site. The movie had only two names to get into the notice of the viewers – Shoojit Sarcar and Taapsee Pannu. While Amit Sadh is the male lead of the film, the film attracted audience thanks to the presence of Taapsee Pannu who got popular with the movie Pink by the same maker. Running Shaadi got a lukewarm response at the box office on the opening day with the other release The Ghazi Attack getting away with a better business at the box office.
Running Shaadi was low on promotions and neither the trailers nor music evoked much popularity. However the reviews and on spot opinion of the audience was not negative but the movie suffered because of lack of attractive subject. The deleting of the “.com” from the title and the beeping of the phrase from the entire film also affected the viewing of the film. The total first day collection of the movie was 13.24 crore. The theatre occupancy rate was over 75% in metro cities.
Running Shaadi could secure less number of screens in comparison with The Ghazi Attack. As expected the opening of the film was low but it is expected to pick up on the weekends. Being a light masala entertainer, Running Shaadi is expected to rise of the collection graph. The expected collection for the weekend is around 35 crore.
