The much-anticipated fifth installment of the Golmaal franchise is gearing up to be a fresh and bold addition to the beloved comedy series, featuring new elements like a fantasy-inspired tone and the franchise’s first-ever female antagonist.
Talking about the film, it is directed by Rohit Shetty, Golmaal 5 marks an exciting new creative direction for the ensemble comedy that began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited in 2006.According to a PTI report, the film will bring back the core group of mischief-makers—Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Khemu—with Sharman Joshi rejoining the cast, reconnecting the story to the original film.
An insider revealed, “The fifth part is going to be a fantasy comedy,” indicating that the film will blend the franchise’s signature humour with elements of fantasy or surreal storytelling, elevating the stakes beyond the usual prank-filled antics. A major twist in Golmaal 5 is the introduction of the franchise’s first female villain. While casting is still underway, the makers have crafted the story to feature a woman in the negative role, breaking new ground for the series. “This story was written in a manner that the negative character is played by a woman,” the source added.
Alongside the returning lead cast, familiar supporting actors such as Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleshkar, Mukesh Tiwari, and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to return, ensuring the distinctive comic flavour fans love remains intact. Over nearly two decades, the Golmaal franchise has earned a reputation for chaotic humour and quirky characters caught in absurd situations.
With Golmaal 5, the shift toward fantasy promises to expand the film’s visual and narrative scope while staying true to the mischief-driven comedy that audiences cherish.
