Wiki : Rani Mukherji is an Indian film actress, who apart from being a star is among the high profile celebrities in this country. Rani comes from a Bengali family wherein she had her relatives from film line, however, she wasn’t that keen to join the B Town but destines have their own plans and she finally entered Bollywood. During her teenage, she acted in her father’s Bengali movie called Biyer Phool and later did the social drama called Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat in 1997 on the insistence of her mom. From the very next year, she chose acting her full time career. Though her first movie turned a big flop, however, her performance collected applauds from the critics thus giving her the Screen Awards under debut category.

BiographyRani Mukherji didn’t get any other movie post her debut movie hence she continued her education but seeing her cousin’s (Kajol) performance, she went ahead to pursue her full time career in the acting world. In the year 1998, she finally got a big role opposite Aamir Khan in a moderate hit called Ghulam wherein she had a small role in it yet her song Aati Kya Khandala turned viral giving her recognition in the Tinsel Town. Her next movie was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with SRK and Kajol, which she got after Karan Johar tried approaching several actresses for the said role but finally had to give her when she volunteered herself for the said character. The movie was a big hit, which benefitted her a lot in terms of exposure in the B Town. She was seen dubbing her own voice as she was seen improving her diction to a great extent. She even bagged the best supporting actress award at Filmfare.

Post Kuch Kuch Hota Hai gave a couple of roles to Rani Mukherji, which included Mehndi and Hello Brother, however, both turned flop giving her no chance to proper her career in acting world. She had to literally struggle to gain the stardom and stability in her acting career since most of her movies were male centric and didn’t propel her career in acting world. Some of her successful movies include the romantic comedy called Hum Tum, the drama Yuva and Veer Zaara. Her performance in Black in 2005 was applauded the most, while the character of an unfaithful wife in the hit movie – Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna did some damage control for her. Yet she was seen struggling a bit till she finally got the character of a journalist in No One Killed Jessica. Lastly, she garnered appreciations for her role in movies like Talaash and Bombay Talkies.

Apart from treading the path of acting, Rani Mukharji is engaged in a number of humanitarian causes and charity work in the country. She has been vociferous about the issues of children and women and seen speaking on them in the media. Rani is also the brand ambassador of P&G apart from being the ambassador of an NGO called Child Rights and You. She is also attached to another venture called Shiksha wherein she works for the cause of education among children. In the year 2011, she was seen raising fund for the group Indian Stroke Association, which takes care of the financially deprived patients suffering from the stroke.
