Prachi Desai is an Indian film and TV actress. She hails from Surat, Gujarat and born on 12th September 1988. She did her schooling from St. Joseph Convent and then headed to Pune for her further studies to attend Singhagad College. Right from her student life, she has been active in social and cultural activities and has won a number of prizes in dancing and acting competitions. She has just done her Junior College she gave up her education to pursue a different field. It was in 2006, she got the chance to do a role in a daily soap of Ekta Kapoor called Kasamh Se. Her performance in the role of Bani opposite TV actor Ram Kapoor was highly appreciated and thus proved out to be a milestone for her acting career.
The serial made a popular in the acting world and gave her different Telly Awards from reputed places. She then got another serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay, another daily soap from Ekta Kapoor adding wings to her popularity. She then participated in the dance reality show known as Jhalak Dikhla Jaa with Deepak Sign the choreographer. Though she was eliminated in the initial stages, however, she was back in the show from the wild card entry option, and thus at the end of it won the title as well. She was also seen in another dance show called Yeh Hai Jalwa but was eliminated in the initial stages.
In just two years, she made her transition from TV to film world and finally in 2008, she was seen making her debut in the movie called Rock On opposite Farhan Akhtar. Though this movie was recognised being modest in terms of performance over the Box Office, however, her performance was applauded a lot from the critics. Her next movie Life Partner in 2009 gave her similar reviews for her performance, while she did a role in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai along with Ajay Devgan and Emran Hashmi. Her performance in the movie was simply splendid, which gave her the National Award under the best supporting actress category, while she also made her marks in other awards and nominations as well including Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards, IIFA Awards, Zee Cine Awards, Star Screen Awards and Stardust Awards.
Owing to her ace performances, she was given the role in the movie I Me Aur Main, Teri Meri Kahani, Bol Bachchan and later in Policegiri, which helped her to establish herself as an actress in Bollywood. Her upcoming movie is Ek Villain wherein she is doing a cameo role. She is more recognised as simple and with girl next door kind of looks with a gorgeous smile and hence hardly would find her any kind of controversy.
