When Delhi Belly writer Akshat Verma took the director seat for his first film Kaalakaandi, not many surprised to see the writer bringing something really different for the audience. He tried his luck in black comedy keeping Saif Ali Khan at the center stage along with roping other actors who are among the talented people in B Town. We indeed saw Saif Ali Khan performing the best over the silver screen but he was not alone to give the best of his performance but was also backed with other actors in the star cast.
The acclaimed actors like Vijay Raaz and Deepak Dobriyal remained part and parcel of the ensemble star cast who were seen with their extensive body of work who remained at the forefront with their incredible comical timing and excellent performances. Also, the others who ruled the game include the ladies like Amyra Dastur, Shenaz Treasuryvala, and Isha Talwar who though remain not so regular names in the B Town but they are incredible over the silver screen. Yet these actors were not able to overshadow the man at the center – yes, the lead actor of the film, Saif Ali Khan.
Saif Ali Khan has done an incredible job in his film. Though one may not find the actor doing much in terms of the metamorphosis of physical appearances. He has only tried to pose the challenge over the average instincts of the actor along with the devoid of Bollywood, but the kind of change can be called as the most noticeable thing in him. One can find the freewheeling Saif barren of any reserve. So, with this film, Saif Ali Khan has proved that he can suppress the limitations that are offered by the stardom, while the other actors remain good in their characters yet, they seem way far from the performance of Saif Ali Khan.
