A well known B town actress and Model of Indian glamour world is thy name of Hasleen Kaur. However, she is more known for being a top notch model than actress. She was born in Binnaguri, District Jalpaiguri (West Bengal), but was brought up in New Delhi and completed her BA from Jesus and Mary College and then did her mass communication degree from the prestigious IIMC (Indian Institute of Mass Communication) New Delhi. It was just a coincidence when she and Ankita Shorey, the top runners of Miss India happened to be the alumnus of same college – Jesus and Mary College.
Wiki : Hasleen Kaur started her career with modelling and thus was seen participating in the leading beauty contests and pageants in India and abroad. She was judged as the first runner up over the Pantaloons Femina Miss India and later went to n Manila, Philippines just to represent the country over the 2011 Miss Earth beauty pageant. Since then she had done a number of ads and endorsed so many brands, including turning up the Elite Model and later seen in the Fashion Calendar of the same brand in the year 2011.
Hasleen Kaur entry into Bollywood was with the Imtiyaz Ali’s movie called Love Aaj Kal along with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. There she had a very small role, which helped her an exposure of the world of acting in Bollywood. Later, she was offered to do the famous role of Chanda for the movie DevD opposite to Abhay Deol, however, she had to refuse it as she was focusing on her studies. Now, she has got the lead role for the movie called Karle Pyar Karle by Suneel Darshan wherein she played the character of Preet. Though the movie turned an average over Box office, however, her character was appreciated.
Apart from modelling and acting, she is also known for Hasleen Kaur social activism. During her days of Miss India Earth participation, she was seen becoming the key part of Dr Kiran Bedi’s NGO called Nav Jyoti, which deals in with Environmental problems. She was seen in its different campaigns including participating in Wild Parade at Bangalore, which dealt with spreading the word for environment. She is also involved in a number of fund raising events for the said NGO for its different projects for rural areas.
