Fanney Khan played by Anil Kapoor happens to be a father of a young, obese and ambitious teenage girl who is keen on making her career in singing. But when she sings, she is often booed by the crowd. With little choice left, Fanney and Adhir played Rajkummar Rao kidnap Baby Singh played by Aishwarya Rai who happens to be a famous soloist, for making the way for Fanney’s daughter’s success. This boost up the interest around Baby Singh’s albums and it becomes an instant hit. The manager of Baby is pleased and thus seen striking a deal with Fanney for making his daughter a star, and if Fanney keeps the singer (Baby) hidden, so that the high rate of the sales continue.
The film has been the most awaited ones for its interesting star cast, and the trailer too had helped the film to garner a decent buzz in the media, however, as the film released we understand the shallowness of the film in terms of content and story, which is simple and predictable. However, in terms of performance, the film seemed to have high regards for the critics particularly Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao and to some extent Divya and others, while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan remained the same old lady with her overacting and boasting up things which really did not required. Perhaps she once again remained the object of glamor trying to attract the audience to some extent but in terms of performance she is again way behind.
Coming back to the content the film has the rooms for improvement had the director cared worked hard on the home work. Since the film is based on music and singing, the music of Fanney Khan seems to be its USP, which somewhere boosts the entertainment value of the movie. The other aspects of the film like Cinematography, Editing and other elements remained par as per the requirements which again helped the film to gain a decent entertainment value. The overall picture seems to be okay and it would be interesting to see whether the film would be able to come closer to the audience or not.
Fanney Khan The Last Word
