Bhumi Pednekar is not a well known name in Bollywood or glamour world since she is among the novices in B Town. In fact, her first movie called Dum Laga Ke Haisha with Ayushmann Khuarrana is all set to hit the theatres soon. She hails from Mumbai wherein she was born and brought up in a middle class non filmy family. Though she had dreams of working in Bollywood films but always knew that she cannot make it as a main lead in any movie. However, without knowing her fate, she started her career working in the office of Yash Raj Films. Right from doing odd jobs to becoming an assistant of the casting director Abhimanyu Ray, she had casted a number of faces for different films of Yash Raj.
In fact, Parineeti Chopra who happens to be the household named in B Town too started her career working in the PR and media planning department of Yash Raj Films. Working behind the cameras to reaching out to the silver screen was though not an issue for people like Parineeti Chopra as she has her own cousin Priyanka Chopra working in the same industry. However, for people like Bhumi Pendekar, it was really a big dream come true kind of event. She landed up into acting accidently, it wasn’t planned. One of the casting directors wanted to send out a role sequence to a lady based in overseas had to make someone to do the small role.
The role was carried out none other than Bhumi Pednekar, which turned out to be an important yardstick for the Aditya Chopra to take her in his upcoming venture called Dum Laga Ke Haisha in opposite Ayushmaan Khurrana. Maneesh Sharma was the man who spotted her and then gave her the opportunity to work with the same. In fact, as per the tradition of Yash Raj Films, she is signed for three films, which comes out to be a contract unlike seen for a number of other actors and actresses including Parineeti Chopra. In her first movie, she would be seen in the main lead, which deals with the issue of obesity and the stigma attached to the same. It also talks about certain stereotypes of Indian bride.
