Ajay Devgn’s popular theatre chain, NY Cinemas—known for its elegant décor, superior sound and picture quality, comfortable seating, and affordable pricing—is undergoing a rebranding. The chain will now be called Devgn CineX, following its merger with the Hyderabad-based Vishwa Samudra (VS) Group.
This update was shared by Gaurav Mishra on X (formerly Twitter), who worked with NY Cinemas from March 2019 to July 2025. He also revealed that the new logo for the theatre chain will be unveiled soon. The Vishwa Samudra Group, according to its official website, is one of India’s fastest-growing conglomerates with over 25 companies under its umbrella.
Originating at Krishnapatnam Port, the group now has a global presence across Singapore, the USA, UAE, France, Germany, the Maldives, Guyana, and more. Its diverse business interests span infrastructure, engineering, construction, logistics, shipping & maritime services, manufacturing, commodity trading, security, port operations, and real estate.
NY Cinemas currently operates theatres in multiple cities, including Ahmedabad, Anand, Bahadurgarh, Bhuj, Gandhinagar, Ghazipur, Gurugram, Guwahati, Hapur, Kanpur, Meerut, Mumbai, Raebareli, Ratlam, and Surendranagar.Founded in 2017, NY Cinemas carries Ajay Devgn’s vision on its website:

“I want to bring back the romance of cinema to the modern multiplex experience. I want to create spaces that showcase my love for filmmaking and bring people closer to their favourite films and stars, no matter where they come from. I want to create a place where people can fall in love with cinema once again.”
The first NY Cinemas opened in Ratlam in 2019 and attracted attention for its unique Railways-inspired interiors.
At the launch, Ajay Devgn said, “We are dedicating this Ratlam multiplex as an ode to the iconic railway network of the country through the years of Indian cinema. We are glad to introduce this thematic movie-watching experience with an exclusive concept powered by advanced technological solutions to our audience.”
With the merger and rebranding to Devgn CineX, the theatre chain looks set to expand its footprint while continuing to offer immersive cinematic experiences.
