Veeram is a Malayalam film based on the legendary story of a warrior Chandu Chekavar. It will be an adaptation of Shakespearean classic tragedy Macbeth. However it is also being touted as the remake version of the legend of Chandu in Kerala. The movie is based on the life of a royal family that had warriors fighting mightily with the enemy. Events take a turn and the one member of the family is accused of betraying his own brother. The story was a major hit with the veteran actor Mamooty playing the lead character in the 1980s. With many remakes and allusions, the story will once again be portrayed on the screen with a new actor Kunal Kapoor whom he remembers for his role in Rang De Basanti.
Kunal Kapoor was away from lime light for a while now. Except for his Kurkure advertisements there was not much to be seen of this actor. The actor worked in few South Indian films and finally he is coming with the big project Veeram which has him in the lead role and it is indeed a very interesting one. The make-up attire and costume have a mythological feel to it. The highlight of the film will the traditional warrior art fight sequences which will blow the minds away. The trailers are released and you can check the artistic feel to the movie.
Veeram is produced by L J films and made completely in Malayalam. But the appeal of the film is more than regional.
