Sarkar 3 Movie Review : Film is gritty, intense and powerful all thank to Big B

Sarkar 3

Film – Sarkar 3

Genre – Political Crime Thriller

DirectorRam Gopal Varma

Star castAmitabh Bachchan, Ronit Roy, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam

Rating – 3.5

Plot :

Annu Karkare (Yami Gautam) conspires and attempts to avenge the death of her father, for which she blames “Sarkar” (Amitabh Bachchan). Juxtaposed with the situation is Sarkar’s own personal battles with his volatile grandson Shivaji Nagre or “Cheeku” (Amit Sadh). Simultaneously, the political and corporate diaspora pose threats to Sarkar’s dominance. Assisted by his aide Gokul Satam (Ronit Roy), Sarkar deals with one of his greatest adversaries in the form of Michael Valya (Jackie Shroff) and the moody and seemingly violent politician Govind Deshpande (Manoj Bajpayee). So, what happens next is interesting to catch.

Sarkar 3 Review

Ram Gopal Varma, who has been struggling to find his lost form in Bollywood for some time, is relying heavily on Amitabh Bachchan’s charisma to rise and shine again. And as far as the performance of Big B is concerned, he seems to get some amount of relief for a moment. To set the tone right, Varma has used a similar background score and lighting to that of the first two films. Of course, Subhash Nagre’s get-up will also be the same.He has also brought in some top actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy and Jackie Shroff to flesh out his screenplay effectively. If Bajpayee is playing an idealist rebel in the film, Ronit Roy will be replacing Chander (Ravi Kale) as Sarkar’s most trusted ally.

Amit Sadh and Yami Gautam are also in the film and they are expected to carry the Sarkar legacy forward. However, the most striking thing about this film is its announcement that Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in an angrier, meaner avatar. In fact, he says that he hasn’t changed over the years. But all said and done, Sarkar 3 is probably Varma’s last shot to reclaim his space in Bollywood as the most sought after noir filmmaker. With the ensemble cast including big names like Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff and Manoj Bajpayee, there seems to be a lot to watch out for in the film. Yami Gautam seems to have finally got an image makeover and for a change, she leaves an interesting trail regarding her character in the film with her glimpse in the film.

Sarkar 3 Review – last word

Of course, it is impossible to imagine Sarkar without the famed ‘Govinda’ track and so that’s another winning point of the film. Though the film seems okay in terms of performance and the script yet it would heavily depend upon the way the audience would like the film.
