Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif were all set to share the screenspace with Shah Rukh Khan in Aanand L. Rai’s next. It was a casting coup of sorts, given the history that both Deepika and Katrina share. However, last week came the news that Deepika has opted out of the movie citing date issues. Since Deepika’s Padmavati shoot has been delayed, she isn’t able to accomodate Aanand’s film, which is ready to roll very soon. The numerous delays in Padmavati made Deepika opt out of the much-awaited film, leaving Rai hunting for a new face.
Now, a popular daily has carried a report which suggests that post Deepika’s exit, it is Anushka Sharma who has been approached for the role. Reportedly, the filmmaker and SRK recently met at a suburban restaurant and were toying around the idea of casting Sharma. “Aanand and SRK met a few nights ago and discussed the possibilities. After Deepika said no to the film, they have offered it to Anushka,” the source informed to the daily.
However, this doesn’t seem to be happening. When we got in touch with Anushka Sharma’s team, her official spokesperson denied the news saying, “Anuhska has not been approached for the film yet.” Meanwhile, the report also says that if Anushka rejects the role, then Sonam Kapoor is their next choice for the movie. Given that Anushka’s spokesperson has denied the news, one wonders whether Sonam will now be the new face.
