Last week there were three major releases at the Box Offices – The Ghazi Attack, Running Shaadi, Irada. Of the three the under-water thriller The Ghazi Attack, which was made in three regional languages including Hindi, made a decent collection of 16.78 crore. The other two films faced a tough time competing with The Ghazi Attack and also the previous week’s Jolly LLB 2. In fact the Akshay Kumar starrer court room drama continued it’s good run into the second week and affected the business of the new releases.
Running Shaadi had the presence of Taapsee Pannu and Amit Sadh and was an out and out Bollywood masala movie. It was a fun comedy but attracted only a limited number of audience. Running Shaadi did a splendid business in northern states of Punjab and Haryana where the story was located. It made a total first week collection of 12.34 crore.
The third release of the week was Irada , a socio-political thriller. It brought to light the grave topic of eco contamination which makes the movie stand out from the other movies. As it was based in Punjab, there recorded an above average business for the film. But it fairly poorly in other parts of the country where it went almost unnoticed. The weekends recorded a better business. At the end of first week, Irada made a total box office collection of 6.89 crore.
As Rangoon is the next big release this week, there are few chances of any of the films bettering their collection in future.
