In a sad incidence the veteran actress Reema Lagu breathed her last at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, confirmed the reports. She left as she was 59. The actress also referred to as Bollywood’s favorite onscreen mother and had garnered huge popularity for the versatility that she showed during her career. She was born with a name Gurinder Bhadbhade in 1958, while her acting potential were first noticed when she was studying at the Huzurpaga HHCP High School in Pune. Her professional acting kicked off as soon as she finished high school.
Her mother Mandakini Bhadbhade was also an actress and was popular for the drama Lekure udand Jaahalee on the Marathi stage. In late 1970s or early 1980s, she began acting in Hindi and Marathi films. Following her marriage to Marathi actor Vivek Lagoo, she took the name Reema Lagoo. She has worked with the most popular names from the industry and mostly been seen in supporting roles. She began with television serials. And earned huge applause with film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) where she played Juhi Chawla’s mother.
She played a controversial role in Aruna Raje’s Rihaee (1988). Later, she was roped in popular film such as Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) as Salman Khan’s mother and then in Saajan (1991), a blockbuster at the box office. She has been featured in some of the biggest hits in the industry which include Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dilwale (1994), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), and Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). She will be missed by the B Town as they loved her dearly.
